Today is the last day I have to work until Monday. I am so excited for a break and most importantly to just have a nice time with family without thinking about work.
We leave tomorrow morning for an hour flight to South Carolina to visit Tete and Chad. Our flight gets in around 9:45am which leaves the whole day open to explore this new town that Natalee just moved to. Luckily Natalee has decided to not go back to work after picking us up so we'll have plenty of time to get settled and plan for the days to come. So, of course Addison got hurt yesterday because you know once she gets better from one thing then another thing has to poor baby! She was going outside with her class and started to run to the playground and fell. Luckily she only scratched up her thumb but its all black and blue and swollen. She is able to move it but its pretty badly bruised. Its her right thumb which she's refusing to use that hand at all so I told John "haha she's going to be left handed" (I'm left handed)! I'm happy it happened yesterday rather than today so hopefully she'll be somewhat recovered by tomorrow.
My mom is leaving Michigan around 1pm tomorrow to drive to Greenville, it looks like its about an 11 hour drive so we will be sound asleep when she arrives. SHE BETTER NOT WAKE UP ADDISON! ;o) I can't wait to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with my sister and mom, Natalee and I had so much fun last year when she came to Florida so it seems like its only getting better. Then Friday morning my mom, Natalee and I will get up and do some shopping! Those are the only plans that we have so far and I'm perfectly happy with that. I plan to just relax, drink some great wine and laugh alot!

Its really weird for me to say this but Addison is going to be 21 months old on Friday (1 year 9 months)! Seriously where is all this time going? I can't believe she's walking, running, talking, yelling at me, making choices and the most important one...saying I Love You back! While the whole "I love you" isn't as clear as when John and I say it but she's for sure saying it and I think she means it too! The transition from a private home daycare to a school has been a little hard on all of us, especially with trying to get into a routine and making sure Addison is comfortable. Last week was Addison's first full week there and she LOVES it. John drives her in the morning and every time he comes around the corner she yells "yeah" and is really excited trying to undo her seat belt all by herself. Every night before bed and each morning when I get her up I ask her if she's excited to go to school and she lights up and tells me "yes". I for sure know this was the best decision we've made as parents this far. She's adjusting and while I haven't worked out in almost 2 weeks I think we're starting to get a routine down and I'm praying this runny nose that started the 2nd day of her new school is just about done. I'm already getting great feedback from the teachers who tell me how great she is and how she loves interacting with all the other kids. Its especially nice to get an update everyday on what she did, how long she slept, how many diapers she went know the details I NEED to know in order to feel involved even though I can't physically be there. While I love Addison with all my heart and soul she has been such a little terror lately. I don't know if its because of the change in daycare or perhaps its because the "Terrible Twos" are coming. While I hear the "Terrible Twos" always hit early I just never thought I would be this exhausted trying to figure out why she's whining all the time. Seriously a couple of days last week as soon as I got her in the car she was yelling at me and whining until she went to bed. I'm not use to her being like that so needless to say I was a little stressed out. Luckily she's the most adorable baby girl in the world so she did have me smiling in between my frustration. Well, 3 more months and my little girl is going to be 2. She's the most amazing thing that ever happened to us and I couldn't imagine my life without her.

Natalee called me the other night to tell me about this amazing airline that we had no idea even existed, they fly from St. Pete/Clearwater airport right to Greenville/Spartenburg! The airline is Allegiant Air and we are super excited!!! Here's their link: Not only do they fly directly in to where Natalee lives they are super cheap too! So, this little situation got John and I to think...why the heck would we drive over 9 hours with a cranky baby, we should just fly for Thanksgiving! While this little trip turned out to be ALOT more expensive, I think my sanity is more important than money. I don't know what's going on with Addison lately but she is constantly whining and driving me crazy. We have a feeling it has to do with her adapting to her new school but geez she is just nonstop when I get her home. So with that being said we felt it would be best to take an hour 1/2 flight rather than a 9 hour drive. I'm so excited because this will really feel more like a vacation since we'll be there all day Wednesday thru Sunday morning! We're going to have so much fun exploring the new area Natalee and Chad live, enjoying an amazing Thanksgiving dinner, shopping till we drop the day after Thanksgiving and just having fun hanging out with family. I am so happy that Addison is constantly around family while its not everyday I think its great how much she's had the opportunity to visit. I'm really proud of our families with how involved they are and most importantly how John and I try to make visiting happen as much as possible. We love our family and friends so much and simply can't show or tell them enough!

As you may recall from a previous blog, I decided to get my teeth fixed to get my two front teeth back to how they were before I had Addison. So, yesterday was the big day and I have no idea why I was so excited. It was so painful when they put my first "tray" (retainer like apparatus) in, my whole chest broke out into hives I just couldn't believe how much I wanted to cry. I was having horrible flash backs from the first day Natalee and I got our braces. I remember we were sitting at the kitchen table just bawling and begging to get these things taken off. Luckily I also remembered that Advil was my best friend so I went right over to Walmart and bought some Advil. I don't know if this situation is better or worse, at least I can take this thing out when I need to but yet it hurts more than you know when I have to pop it back in. I'm hoping this is a possible way for me to lose some weight since I can't eat with it in my mouth and the last thing I really want to do is take it out and put it back in. I've already had a discussion with John and he has agreed that he won't say "I told you so" rather he will be very supportive and feel bad for me. Lucky for me they said it should only hurt for a couple of days and I need to come back in 3 weeks to start my 2nd basically as soon as I feel comfortable I'll have to go through it all over again. Wish me luck!!! There's no turning back now I'm excited, scared and just plain dumb for doing this!!!

Our Visitor Has Come and Gone

Addison Loves Her Auntie April

It was so much fun having my big sister April here to help me while John was away travelling. While I could probably handle little Miss Addi on my own its always a nice excuse to get my family to come out to visit and spend some time with us. It was finally my sister April's turn to get her butt out here and we had a lot of fun. She ended up being a lot more help than she thought she would. Unfortunately Addison had to come home early from daycare on Tuesday due to a 101 temperature. Since they have a rule she can't come back for at least 24 hours without a doctor's note I had to work from home on Wednesday. Lucky for me April flew in Wednesday night and I didn't have to stay home Thursday or Friday. I couldn't believe it was Addison's first week at her new daycare and she lasted a day in a half! Anyway back to my special visitor! We had so much fun just hanging out and catching up. Talking about when we grew up and laughing at Addison constantly. I can't thank her enough for helping me but more importantly just being there for me when I needed her. I love you April and I can't wait to see you in February!

Testing facility to open near Greer; move creates 25 jobs

Akron, N.Y.-based MGA Research Corp., a leading independent testing company, announced Thursday it will open a testing facility in Spartanburg County near Greer. The move is expected to create 25 new jobs.
The 15,000-square-foot facility is at 820 Suburban Park Drive in the Gateway Business Center off Highway 101 behind the BMW Performance Driving School.
Company spokeswoman Natalee Ramsden said the move would bring MGA Research closer to many of its primary customers, primarily BMW Manufacturing Co., but the facility is geared toward serving a variety of industries based in the area.
“We wanted to be in this growing southern automotive corridor,” Ramsden said. “We looked at Alabama and other states, but we decided to land here because we have a relationship with BMW, Lear, Draexlmaier, Faurecia and others.”
“The new facility will bring our company closer to the growing number of automotive facilities in the South,” Patrick Miller, president of MGA Research Corp., said in a statement. “Spartanburg County is the ideal location because of the strong infrastructure and quality of the workforce in the area. We look forward to becoming a part of the business community in the Upstate.”
It is the company’s fourth test facility in the United States. MGA operates facilities in New York, Michigan, Wisconsin, and also has international locations in Korea, India, China and Brazil.
According to MGA’s Web site, it provides testing services for the automotive, aerospace, military, battery and consumer products industries.
Some of its offerings include engineering, consulting, physical testing, product benchmarking, test equipment, laboratory development and design-related services.
“We are excited to welcome MGA Research to Spartanburg County and appreciate that the company has chosen our community,” Carter Smith, executive director of the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce’s Economic Futures Group, said in a statement. “They will be a welcomed addition to our automotive-related industry segment.”
The Greer facility is currently online and an open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. next Friday.
For information about the open house, call Ramsden at 848-3088, or e-mail

My Big Sis Is Coming!!!

April and Arielle (April's oldest)

I'm so excited! My sister April is coming to visit us!!! This will be her first time here and I can't wait. April is my oldest sister, while we're half sisters that really doesn't mean much to me. April is my moms oldest daughter from her first marriage. April's been stuck with me since day 1 so there's really no half involved. I know what some of you are thinking "geez I need a diagram" (Mindy G.) but too bad!!! Anyway, she gets in at 4:23 and we are making good ol' coney dogs from Michigan. John will be travelling Wednesday through Friday so it will just be the girls for a couple of days. I for sure want to show her a good time especially since she doesn't get to travel much so hopefully we can show her the best time ever!!!

Cutest Red Head Ever!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Allie!!! Allie is turning 3 and I just can't believe it. She's getting so big and just so fast. Unfortunately we don't get to see Allie very often because she lives in Washington with her mommy Jen, daddy John and big sister Erin. This is John's sister's 2nd baby girl and ohh my goodness she's 3 now. She's so darn cute and we miss her every day. Hope you have a fun birthday and get to eat lots of cake, eat a piece for each of us!

Pigtails and Ponytails are Overrated...Right???

Look How Crazy Her Hair Is!!!
(she's trying to change her baby's diaper)

So, I'm at a point right now where I'm freaking out about Addison's hair!!! For the longest time I've wanted it to grow and hope that its curly like how John's hair was when he was a toddler. Now I'm taking it all back (kinda). Honestly, I knew this day would come eventually where I would have to figure out how to do pigtails, ponytails and make my daughter's hair look super cute! I've bought sooo many hair products for Addison's hair and the only thing I've semi-mastered is the barrette. Well, even now I'm wondering if I've been doing that right. Anyway I started practicing tonight and was so frustrated. I don't understand how my old daycare lady's daughter got Addison's hair into perfect pigtails like 4 months ago!!! Addison has way more hair now and I am just dumbfounded. So, John asked if he could try. I fricken knew that he would be able to get her hair to look decent. Anyway, I'm not giving up but now I'm rethinking this whole "girls are the best, I love having a girl"!

Seriously, Can I Get Some Lessons???

Fun at Yates Cider Mill

Yates is located in a great area. It only takes us about 20 minutes to get there from my dad so its the perfect amount of time before Addison gets restless in her car seat. I remember when I was younger we would have to drive kind of far to get to the Cider Mill. I'm sure that's because the best ones are a little further away from the city but seriously Yates is perfect. I didn't realize how much they had there and each year we go there I find more things to do.

John, Addison and I started our adventure to the Cider Mill about a 1/2 hour before everyone we invited so that we could get some family pictures done as well as some new pictures of Addison. Claudette Ginter did an amazing job and I would highly recommend her to take your pictures. I've posted the link in case I didn't already email it to you.

We had such a great time. After we were done with the pictures it was time to visit with friends and family over some yummy cider and delicious donuts. Its funny every time I plan something like this I always think I'll be able to sit down and actually catch up with family but its always the opposite. I seem to jump around like crazy making sure I see everyone but never really taking a second to just sit and relax. I really need to keep this in mind the next time I'm in town because I really do want to spend more quality time with everyone. It was still a lot of fun, Addison rode the Pony, ate donuts and drank cider with her cousins and most importantly Addi got to see family and friends we don't get to see very often. I'm so incredibly lucky that she's not a shy baby because when we come to Michigan or even Washington she's always surrounded by people she doesn't see on a regular basis. Perhaps that's why she's not shy!!! I can't thank everyone enough for coming to visit with us last Saturday. It was so nice to see my friends Julie and Megan who both had babies about 7 months after Addison was born and we also got to see Brayden who is 3 weeks older than Addison. Hopefully next time we can actually talk and I can get updates on everything!

Our Cider Mill fun ended with Addison falling asleep in the car! She never does that so I think that indicated that she had ALOT of fun!

Visitors - Recap of Thursday & Friday in MI

Beautiful Baby Addi Hiding from Me
It was so fun to see everybody and it was so nice for people to stop by and visit with us at my dads house. I'm a little sad that I didn't get a picture of Addison and my Aunt Michele since we hardly ever get to see her, but I guess there's next time.
Addi and I had a lot of fun in Michigan (John too but he worked most of the time). I was actually shocked by how much Addison slept while we were there but perhaps that's what she normally does during the week and then tricks us when she's home all day on the weekends (my daycare lady is lucky). With Addison sleeping for 3-4 hours I got to get some rest too so it was actually kind of nice. Thursday was a nice day with my Aunt Michele who drove 2 1/2 hours each way to come visit us for about 3 hours. We got to catch up and just hang out.
My sister April then stopped by around 5pm and had Addison cracking up. It was nice that she could come by before work so I could get some cute pictures of her in her scrubs! It was a great practice run since she will be visiting us next week!

Auntie Nurse April and Addison

Friday my dad took the day off and three of us hung out (kind of). We went to lunch at one of my favorite restaurants and then he had to do some running around. This was another day that Addison slept for like 3 hours. So, around 4 we all got up from our naps and started getting Addison ready for her Trick or Treating fun. Below are some pictures of our visitors on Friday!

Monday, November 3, 2008

This was seriously the best Halloween of my life. Seeing Addison excited to put her costume on and ready to run out the door was just beautiful. I was of course stressed and completely forgot to decorate her face but her costume was so darn cute she didn't need it anyway. She had so much fun running down the sidewalk kicking all the leaves and chasing John you couldn't help but just laugh the whole time. After the first couple of houses she for sure had the hang of it and knew exactly what she was doing.

It was so funny to see her run up to the door and start knocking yelling "HELLO", she would try to patiently wait but her knocks would only get louder the longer the person took to come to the door. She would be a little offended when the person put the candy directly into her Hello Kitty bag that my mom got for her. She would then put her hand back into her bag, take the candy out and then put it back in there. She would give the look like "hey, your suppose to hand it to me"! Geez! I was actually very surprised to see how long she lasted. We went all the way down my dads street then crossed and did the other side. By the 4th or 5th time she fell it was time to call it a night.

It was so great to have my dad, my mom and John's dad join us while we chased after our little bunny. I will seriously never forget this night and I know it can only get better as Addi gets older.
