Holy 4 Months

My little guy turned 4 months last Friday! I can't believe how fast time is going. I feel like he's so old already, but in reality he's only 4 months. I took him to the dr. on Monday for his 4 month checkup and things are going pretty good. He's 15lbs and 1oz and 25 5/8 inches. Of course I keep thinking he's so big, but when it comes down to it he's in the 50th percentile in weight and 75th for height. So, he's actually doing pretty good.
I did have to bring up the fact that our little man has been spitting up quite a bit lately. There's many different reasons why this could be happening so I've been keeping a list of when he's eating, sleeping, spitting up and so on. This has honestly been such a lifesaver. Brody was eating every 2 hours before and now I'm having him wait until 3 hours which seems to help slow down the spitting up. I like seeing his schedule written down too b/c it makes me realize how much he actually does sleep and overall he's doing pretty good. I'm still working on getting him to lay down in the afternoon, but I know we'll eventually get him on a schedule.
Another topic I brought up was how I was a little nervous that Brody wasn't doing the "mini push-ups" like he should be. He can hold his head up for a couple of seconds but then he gets tired and lays back down. We're working on the tummy time to strengthen the neck muscles, luckily the dr. said he's not too concerned he really thinks he's just being lazy. Since Brody decided to come into this world being lazy with his breathing we shouldn't be too surprised that he's going to be a little lazy w/some other things too. ;o)

We also got to bust out the rain forest bouncy toy! Its shocking to see that Brody can already touch the floor. He does like this new toy for a couple of minutes and then he's like "get me out of here". This is exactly why I say "Holy 4 Months" I just can't believe its time to bring out real toys for him to play with. Its so exciting yet so sad weeks are flying by like days. I love watching him conquer all these milestones, I'm just nervous one of these times that I blink he's going to be 4 and Addi's going to be 8!

Speaking of which...I leave in less than a week to go visit my new nephew Kingstyn. I can't believe he's already 3 weeks old.

Someones Getting Big!!!

My handsome little man is getting so big. ;o( We've been trying to get Brody to laugh I think since the first day he was born because he's constantly smiling, well the day arrived on Tuesday. The crazy thing about this is he saved it until his daddy got home from work. Brody & I were playing in his room working on some "tummy time" and I was making him smile really big. He was opening his mouth and kicking his legs like he just wanted to let it out and he finally did it. He let out a little giggle which I probably scared the crap out of with my excitement! I called to John to come see and he did it again! Damn hormones...I seriously cried when he did it again. It was honestly the best experience, there's nothing like listening to your baby boy vocalize how happy he his. I love how he smiles at me everyday, almost all day. He's such a happy baby and it melts my heart.
Another amazing milestone occurred yesterday too! I laid Brody down for a little nap yesterday afternoon and when he woke up I found him on his back. My little man rolled himself over (he sleeps on his belly)! I couldn't wait to tell Addison after I picked her up from school because she's been working really hard to teach him this. Everyday we've been doing "tummy time" and rolling him around on my bed and the floor in his bedroom so he can work on strengthening his neck and learn how to roll. Well, the same thing happened again today TWICE!!! Its so exciting to see Brody accomplish these milestones!!
Now, I can take a deep breath and start looking forward to the rice cereal he gets to try next week and the teething process that I believe is beginning to start. I need to keep reminding myself..."one day at a day at a time".

Big Sister LOVE

I can't believe how amazing this transition has been from having 1 to 2 kids. Addison has been so great and I think she falls in love with her little brother more and more everyday. I think her only complaint would be the fact that he can't play with her. The other day she asked if I would just put Brody in her room so he could color with her? I had to remind her that Brody's just a baby and they'll be able to play together soon enough.

Now that Brody is able to focus on his baby toys Addison loves showing him the different things they can do. While I'm constantly finding many of these toys in Addison's room its actually kind of cute to see how she finds creative ways to use them. She calls those rattles that go around Brody's wrist or ankle a collar and likes to put them around her stuff animals neck. She actually asked me the other day "hey where did that green collar go that you put on Brody's wrist"?

I keep praying this love continues, I mean geez she even laughs when her brother pulls her hair. I'm a lucky mommy in so many ways!

Baby Small Has Arrived!!!!

Well, after many months of living in suspense to find out what the heck my sister Natalee was having we finally found out on December 29th!

It's a BOY!!!

Kingstyn Randal Small was born on December 29th at 9:57 p.m.. He weighed in at 8lbs 1oz and 21 1/2 inches long.

Natalee & Chad patiently watched their original due date of December 25th pass them by and decided to be incuded beginning December 28th in the evening. After trying lots of different things and being stuck between 4-5cm they made the decision to do a c-section. It turned out to be the best decision because Mr. Kingstyn wouldn't have fit through his mommy's pelvis. I'm so happy Natalee didn't have to continue going through being uncomfortable especially since it would of resulted in a c-section anyway. Natalee's been so positive about everything and how could she not...she has the cutest baby Small ever!!!

Thank God for technology!!! I was able to get updates via text from Chad throughout the whole experience and even got to actually see my handsome new nephew 2 times already. While its not as good as the real thing, I'll take what I can get.

I'm so excited that Brody and Kingston are going to grow up being the best of friends. How amazing is it that they are only 3 1/2 months apart. The only way this situation could be any better would be if we lived in the same state. I'm looking on the bright side of things and keeping in mind how easy it is for us to go visit them. Its killing me that I don't get to see my new nephew until the end of the month, but I'm sure it will go pretty fast since the past 3 1/2 months have totally flown by!

Chad & Natalee ~ I just want you to know that I love you like crazy!!! I'm so excited for your baby boy and can't wait to spoil the crap out of him like you do with my kids. ;o)
