Mr. Brody Continues to Keep Us on Our Toes!

Well, we got through Christmas with no illnesses this year (last year there were fevers and scary rashes).  Unfortunately, a couple of days later something was up w/Brody.  We noticed Friday night his voice sounded a little raspy, but I didn't think much of it.  Then later that night he woke up crying and having difficulty breathing!  I of course went in freak out mode thinking maybe he was having an asthma attack or something.  I'm pretty convinced my little guy has inherited my health issues!  John was able to calm him down and get him to breath a little better w/a steamy shower and some Mucinex.  The scary part didn't come until the next morning when he got up.  I read alot, maybe too much and I know when its time to be concerned is when you look at their chest and its caving in while they are struggling to breath.  I almost had a panic attack and of course ran to my calm husband to tell him he HAS to go to the hospital.  As John was getting dressed I decided to call our pediatrician hoping maybe they were open on a rare Saturday.  Our prayers were answered and they told us to bring him in right away.  John took him so I wouldn't be crying the whole time the dr. was examining him.  Of course I was blowing up John's phone w/texts and thank God he was keeping me updated.  Luckily my little man just has a horrible case of Croup, in the case of Croup its the upper lungs that are being affected rather than the lower lungs which would be Asthma.  Dr. Morris did explain that he was right on the edge of having to be admitted for further observation, but luckily he didn't get bad enough and we did exactly what we should have last night.  Since John is in between jobs we don't have health insurance so thank God this was only a $50 trip rather than thousands.  Dr. Morris was awesome and let us borrow his breathing machine so we could continue treatments at home.  Once we get insurance he will write us a prescription for one so then we will have one all the time.  I was shocked to see when it was time for Brody to do his breathing treatments at home he took them like a champ.  While he's still pretty sick and struggling to breath, he's doing so much better.
Thank God for my mom, I was able to call her while John was picking up Brody's prescription so I could have a good cry.  This was honestly one of the most scariest moments in the last 5 years of being a mother.  You never want your child to suffer especially when it comes to having the ability of breathing.  I was praying so hard for him to be ok and to take his discomfort away and just give it to me.  I'll never forget these feelings of helplessness and hope we never have to go through it again.

Miss Kindergartner Addison

I know I'm a little behind on my blog, but I think I'm ready to get back to keeping this thing updated!
Addison started Kindergarten last month!!!  Its been a crazy roller coaster as far as this new journey.  Addison started at Sexton which is the public school that we are zoned for.  I must say I was having a nervous breakdown the whole 10 days that she was attending this school.  As I've talked about before, Addison was on the waiting list for Bay Vista Fundamental which is what we call a public school, but setup more like a private school that is FREE.  They are extremely strict as far as when it comes to children behaving badly, parents have to be involved every step of the way and the communication between parents, teachers and the school are amazing!  The experience at the first school was not at all what I wanted for my baby girl, so when I got the call that our lottery number came through at Bay Vista I honestly wanted to cry!  Not only is Addison at a better school, but she has 4 friends that also attend Bay Vista.  This not only makes Addison happy, but makes me ecstatic!  Its been so nice to be reunited with some of our friends and we even have a carpool going with the Fry family.  While her frist school was less than 2 miles away from the house, its 100% worth the extra 7 miles!
 (Brody's saying "Cheese")
Obviously the most important thing is Addison's happiness and I must say she's in love with her new school, even though she keeps thinking she'll have to go to another school next year.  I keep reminder her that this will be her school for a long time!  She has the sweetest teacher, Mrs. Moyer.  I got to meet her the first day and I must say she's exactly what Addison needs.  Mrs. Moyer is very sweet and I love how she talks to her students (very calm and caring).  Addison's only complaint for switching schools is the homework we have to do each night, but not only is this helping Addison, but its helping us as parents to make sure she is continuing to learn even after she gets home and its not all about sitting in front of the TV until its bed time!  I cant express enough how I'm breathing easier and smiling alot more since we've been able to attend Bay Vista!

Feeling Patriotic!!!

The kids and I went to vote for the Primary election today.  Luckily it was completely empty at the poll (kind of sad too), but we did our Patriotic duty and voted.  I was especially interested in the election because my friend Cathy is running for county judge.  She's such an amazing woman so I had to make sure I showed my support no matter what.
I thought the best part of voting was bringing the kids and the sad part was when Addison asked me "what is voting"?  Apparently I need to somehow explain to my 5 year old what an important job it is not only as an American, but as a woman to vote.  I was a little shocked, but then again she is only 5 and just starting elementary school.  I've made a mental note though to continue to explain what an awesome job and responsibility we have to make our voices heard especially when it comes to election time and choosing all different leaders besides the President!

On to the next trial...Body by Vi

Well, after working my BUTT off for the last 5 months with going to the gym at least 3 days a week and trying to watch what I eat, I'm still not seeing the results I thought would happen so easily.  I've decided to try a different approach on top of continuing to workout.  A girl at my Orange Theory Fitness gym was talking to me about this Body by Vi 90 day challenge that has helped alot of people lose weight for people like me who workout alot, but just aren't seeing the results they like.  I was pretty hesitant at first because I'm not really into "weight loss programs", but this one had me interested.  Its not about just taking a pill a day and starving, but it actually is something I'm capable of doing.  You drink 2 shakes a day and then have a sensible meal.  I think I'm even more excited because I hate eating before 4pm (I'm pretty sure this is my problem) so this easy process of making 2 shakes a day will help my body to start  doing what its suppose (I mean honestly I'm starving myself all day until I decide to eat, which isn't the best way to live).  I'm not expecting miracles here, but I am praying I can shed 30lbs in 3 months.  I think with the help of this program and continuing to can it now work?  I'm still so hesitant, but I have to try it or else I'll keep thinking...what if?  Wish me luck in this journey and pray I can start feeling better about myself inside and out!

4th = Girl!!!!!

It must be year of the girl and I couldn't be more happy!  My greatest and dearest friend Melissa found out last week that after having 3 boys (Dylan, Carson and Levi) her and Nathan are completing their family with a baby girl!!!!  I was going crazy waiting for the news on whether or not it was going to be team blue again for this awesome family or were they going to have a baby girl to spoil?  Of course Melissa was amazingly positive about everything and talked herself into believing it was another boy, but to her and Nathan's surprise they're having a GIRL!!!!
I've talked about my friend Melissa many times, but I'll remind everyone that Melissa and I met almost 10 years ago while going to Oakland University.  We clicked and have been friends ever since.  She's one of my friends I must go see whenever I'm in Michigan especially so our kids can hang out and we can catch up.  We're constantly talking about how much we wish we lived by each other since we'd probably be together everyday.  Luckily like I said at least we get to see each other a couple times a year and are constantly communicating through phone, FB and email.  I feel so lucky to have her and her amazing family in our lives!  Now I can't wait to spoil her baby girl.  I can't stop smiling, thinking about how lucky this little girl is going to be with having 3 older brothers to look out for her.  Poor girl won't have a date until she's 30!
(Seriously can this family get any cuter?  Yup!  With a baby girl)

Goregous Baby Small #2

My niece is getting so big and looking more and more like her big brother!!!  I don't know if I'm allowed to reveal the name so I'm just using "beautiful baby small #2" for now!  ;o)  Chad and Natalee had a 4d ultrasound done and miss thang is looking pretty cute!  The poor thing looks like she's already running out of room in my sister's little belly since they keep finding her feet up by her head at the last couple ultrasounds!  It seems like she may already be a thumbsucker too or just loves being nice and comfy with having her arms over her face.  I love seeing these ultrasounds even the black and white ones, I don't care...I just want to see her beautiful face!  I can't believe Natalee's already 30 weeks pregnant and I'm about to schedule my flight to come stay with them during the birth!  The c-section has been scheduled for Oct. 3rd, if it were up to me I would be there for a month, but I'll let them have some family time so I'm just going to help out for a week.  I seriously feel so giddy and I'm finding myself having to hold back from buying this baby girl every outfit I see since she already has a pretty good wardrobe from when Addison was a baby!  I just love spoiling my nieces and nephews, John couldn't be happier that I'm learning to contain myself.  Well, she's going to be here before we know it and I can't wait!!!

(Look her eyes are open)
(This is my favorite one...look at her little arm)

Holy Moly 62

My dad celebrated his 62nd birthday yesterday!
Words cannot express how much I love this man!  Besides giving me life he continues to be the apple of my eye, even as an adult.  There's not a day that goes by that I don't think of him and feel blessed to have such an awesome guy as my dad.  I've been reflecting alot especially in the last couple of months on what a beautiful life my dad offered me as I was growing up.  I sometimes feel bad for John because I know I compare him and my dad alot.  I have to keep reminding myself that my dad was self employed and had the kind of job where if I needed him to leave work early or be there for me when I was sick he could just take the day off.  I remember the times when I would be home sick or we would have a 1/2 day and my dad would spend time just hanging out.  On those special days we would order a pizza or get subs in the middle of the afternoon.  Then there was all the driving, cheering and encouragement no matter what sport I participated in, my dad was always there.  He's the one who taught me to yell at the TV when our favorite team wasn't winning and then stomp around mad if they lost.  I can't forget his attempts to make ice skating rinks in the backyard that consisted of him constantly getting up all night to water the lawn and make sure everything was freezing accurately.  This wasn't just about an ice skating rink...this was about his kids having fun and being happy.  I loved and still love the endless hours of just talking about life and making sure I tell him many times a day how much I love him.  I can't thank him enough for teaching me the power of love and never skipping a beat to ensure I knew how much he cared about me and would do just about anything for my happiness.  Of course as a teenager there were times of letting him down, but he never told me he wasn't proud of me and more importantly taught me to charge forward and know as long as I'm trying my hardest then every thing's going to turn out ok.  My dad worked his butt off his whole life and he did it for his family.  Everything he would ever do was for us and I really hope he knows how much I appreciate him setting that example.  Not only do I have the best dad, but my kids have the most amazing Grandfather.  He loves my kids as if they were his own, watching him play or talking on the phone with my kids just melts my heart.  I know he wishes he could see them everyday and honestly if we lived in Michigan, I'm pretty sure he would.  There's so many awesome things I can say about my dad, but the most important take away from this entry is that I have a pretty awesome dad who deserves all 62 wishes (hopefully they didn't really put 62 candles on a cake...I don't know if it would still be edible) and more.  I'm beyond proud to be his daughter and can't thank him enough for everything he's ever done for me, I look forward to my kids growing up knowing exactly what I'm talking about and will have the same wonderful things to say about him.

Mommy & Addi Fun!

I love when Addi and I get to do fun stuff together.  Since Brody goes to daycare once a week I try to think of something special for us girls to do.  She's been in camp quite a bit this summer, but had a week off so we decided to hit the zoo.  She was so excited, my most favorite is when she says "its a girls day, no boys allowed...mommy & Addi day".  I love being able to have all my attention on her and confirm to her that even though she has a little brother that needs alot of our attention she's still important and she will always be our #1 girl!  I love spoiling her and will continue to do so until the day I die!  ;o)
The zoo was fun, we got there around 10 so we could beat some of the heat, but we may have gotten there a little too early because it didn't seem like alot of the animals were out and they were still setting up the park for visitors.  I was also a little shocked that Addi wasn't into the animals as much as she use to be.  I would be looking at the monkey's and she would be like "ok, lets move on to the next animal".  So, this day that I thought would be so much fun and exciting for her was kind of blah.  We seriously got through the whole park in 2 hours.  At least she loved going on some rides and I even let her ride a horse.  She also got to pet and brush some barn animals and ride a little train all by herself!  Thank god these things saved me because I felt really bad she wasn't that into it, luckily I had a Groupon and didn't have to pay full price or else I would of been really mad!

Since we were over in the Tampa area we decided to surprise John by an impromptu visit to say hi while he was at work.  He was shocked that we were already done with the zoo so after I explained he was like "ohh".  Of course I had to redeem myself and I ended our day at a cupcake shop.  I had no idea it would be so hard to please a 5 year old!  Overall it was a good day and it was nice to spend time alone with my baby girl.  I'm pretty confident she felt the same way...I think.

Bigler Turns 5!!!

One of our favorite girls had a bowling birthday party to celebrate her fabulousness turning 5!  She is so darn cute and of course looked amazing as ever!  This was honestly one of the best kids parties we've ever been too!  The kids got to bowl for an hour, ate pizza, had cake and then got to play the games in the game room.  I couldn't believe it when 2 hours passed because it ran so smoothly and quickly!  The kids had a blast and I must be did the parents.  All of our closest friends were there and the kids loved hanging out while attempting to do this bowling thing!  Cheers to Jenny and Matt for throwing an awesome party!

Girl's Night Out!

Last week a couple special ladies (Beth, Jen and Jenny) and I went out to celebrate Beth's birthday!  Not only were we excited to celebrate Beth's big day, but we were even more excited to get the hell out of the house and have some girl time.  This summer is going so fast, but I'm so exhausted coming up with activities for the kids.  Basically what I'm saying is...I'm beyond ready for Addison to go back to school, I'm tired!

The 4 of us haven't gotten out together in a really long time and we picked up right where we left off.  I love the fact that we talk about everything and anything (I know our husbands want to know so bad, but we won't tell)!  There's never a dull moment and we are constantly full of hilarious stories.  I seriously wish we could go out like this EVERY night!  While the main reason to go out was to get together for Beth's b'day, but I think we would of ran out of our houses just to celebrate a full moon!  As I will say for the 100th time, we had a blast and can't wait for the next girls night!

Star Struck!!!

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was to attend the Ray's game this past Saturday.  Not only did I get to meet Dick Vitale, but I got to get super close to one of my favorite singers...Gavin DeGraw!  It was SUPER hard for me to not go out to him and ask for an autograph when he was meeting the players before the game started, but I didn't want to be that "annoying" fan!  At least I was able to get close enough to capture some pretty cool pictures of him talking and hanging out with the players.  After the LONG game was over it was time to go on the field and enjoy his awesome concert.

Natalee and Chad have seen him a couple of times in concert so I as super excited that it was finally my turn to see Mr. Gavin DeGraw.  I really didn't know what to expect since it was after the baseball game. Was he going to sing one or two songs?  He seriously put on a full show.  We were there for about an hour enjoying his amazing voice!  We were pretty close so I was able to get some awesome pictures and even some cool videos.  I'll never forget this night and, it was honestly one of the best nights in a long time.  We had so much fun and I must admit...I'm still smiling!

Meeting a Legend...Dick Vitale!!!

Ok, so some people won't understand except my dad and brother Greg, but I got to meet Dick Vitale last night when John and I went to the Ray's game.  Now, what's really funny is I've had several opportunities to meet this amazing man while attending the Ray's games for the last 3 years or so, but never had the guts to "bug" him for a picture.  I finally had the "balls" to go over to him after the game and officially get the picture I so desired.  I felt kind of bad because there was a line up of people waiting to meet him (mostly men of course), but since I had our awesome seats I kind of made my way through and plopped myself next to his gorgeous wife and got to talk to her for a little bit, before I made my way to the legend.  I was so nervous and was stumbling over my words basically telling him "its so nice to meet you sir, I'm such a huge fan and my dad loves you sir"  I asked him about his cousin/brother (I couldn't remember) that use to substitute teach at my middle/high school.  He looked at me a little confused and corrected me, telling me he thinks that I was talking about his best friend who looks exactly like him.  I must say I disagree because I distinctly remember him telling us he was related...I may not have been clear.  Anyway, he was so nice I insisted on just getting a picture of him, but the guy behind us was shocked that I didn't want to be in the picture too, so he was kind enough to take it for me.  I'm so happy I agreed because I must say, it turned out perfect.  Of course this morning I downloaded my pics and have been sharing w/all my family and friends.  It was awesome...I'm not going to lie!

For those of you who are wondering WTF, who are you talking about?  Dick Vitale is a huge icon when it comes to college basketball and someone I'll never forget from when I was in middle school and high school watching the best U of M basketball team.  I would watch college basketball with my dad all the time and remember constantly being impressed with Dick's commentating (he's hilarous).  It was funny to see him last night, I don't think he looks any different from that long ago!  I'll never forget last night for so many reasons, but meeting Mr. Vitale is for sure one of the reasons!

We Miss Our Little Visitor!

We had the best visitor come stay with us for a little less than 3 niece Autumn!  We had so much fun and stayed extremely busy.  I think there was only a day or two that we didn't do something.  Even with Tropical Storm Debby coming through we still made it work and had fun!  Here's a list of the things we did...get ready!

1. Busch Gardens (twice)
2. St. Pete Country Club (twice/maybe three times)
3. Walked downtown to the Pier
4. St. Petersburg Aquarium
5. Some jumpy place (can't remember what it was called)
6. Practically Picasso (she made an awesome star bowl to bring home)
7. Little Panera date with just the girls
8. Lots of house fun (more pottery fun, sidewalk chalk & bubbles, wagon pulling, the girls created a tent in Addison's room and also even created signs to put on her door "no boys allowed...except Brody)
9. Finally made it to the beach (twice)

If this list doesn't wear you out I don't know what does.  I'm almost positive I missed an activity in there, but lets just say there wasn't a dull moment!
(Autumns new BF that Uncle John won at Busch Gardens, she was sad to leave Turkey behind when she left)
Now some of you might be thinking...holy crap you really spoiled that girl!  Well, I wouldn't exactly call it that.  She was more than deserving, she was so much help with the kids I don't even know where to begin!  I didn't really have her "babysit" that often, but I guess technically you would call it that since Addison HAD to have her play with her every second of the day!  Autumn was so amazing especially when it came time where she could entertain the kids while I was getting dinner ready or doing laundry.  It was nice to not have Brody and Addi constantly hanging on me or asking for something, they knew they could go to their awesome cousin.  I loved having the extra hand while mine were tied!  I had so much fun just making her feel special and reiterating how much I love her and would do just about anything for her.  I know she was beyond appreciative and I think we were both a little sad when it was time for her to leave.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she'll want to come out next year for the whole summer.  I can't thank my sister and ex-brother in-law enough for allowing her to come out for this long and I really hope Autumn has walked away from this experience with many exciting memories!
